Shocked Hamster!!! (Hamster Version Of Shocked Cat)

RIP Ping

Sadly little Ping passed away last night. We think that it was due to his kidneys packing up. He was a cute and energetic hamster always looking for mischief and playing with me.


Here he is on his favourite running wheel, having a slight breather before running his merry marathons.


One of the last pics of us having a race from one end of the box to the other. I think I won this one as Ping forgot to tie his shoelaces together. :D

Bog roll bedding

We made sure that Pong got his feed and both bedded down for the night. Pingpong like to nibble flakes of toilet roll to make a comfy bedding to line the hay with for added luxury.

Ol Ping and Pong just love that banana chip taste and are not in a sharing mood. Usually Pong would snatch the chip from Ping but now Ping has learnt a few crafty tricks of his own and can fend off his brothers attempts at pilferage!

So today Pong was fast asleep and looked totally adorable with his paws all tucked in. Since Pong had snatched a tasty piece of banana flake from me last night and didn't share it I thought that I'd use this opportunity to get my own back.


So I climbed on top of him and....


...left him a present! He he look how silly he looks now!


When Pong had woken up and realised what I had done he wasn't best pleased at all. I'm pulling my innocent face but I'm fooling no-one!

A happy family of Foxes

Happy 100th post!!!!

To celebrate our 100th post Ping and Pong suggested that we have a fantastic party.


Here are Ping and Pong preparing the dancing area.


And of course party hats were mandatory but Ping didn't want to wear one.


Ping soon forgot about wearing the hat after the nibbles were brought out. Hmmm sunflower seed our favourite!


Here we are having a good ol boogie to some disco classics.


Ping just loves to sing and the party was a perfect time to showoff his squeak squeak harmonies!

Basking foxes

This family of foxes, we are thinking mother and two cubs, entertained themselves in the sunshine for a half hour. And much to our delight they also drank from the water dishes that we had left out for the birds and other wildlife.

We had to stop watching them eventually as you can see in the final set of photos that they had clearly seen us photographing them. Having just seen them chase a squirrel across the lawn we thought it wise return to the safety of our cage.

There was a loud bang at the window as a pigeon flew into the window. the noise woke us both with a start but Ping made sure I was safe, even if I do steal all the nuts. I think that I will share the food with him more often as I seem to take my little bro's love for granted.

Lazy Sunday post

It's been quite sunny over the past few days and the chaos casued by the ash cloud from Iceland has stopped and flights are fully operational now. All that busy news watching and Election campaigning is just too complicated and none of the parties have pro furry mammal agendas.



Here a waterdish was put out for the animals to quench their thirst with and one clever Jay decided to cool off with a bird bath too. Currently circling the watering hole is a young squirrel and a Mr Magpie.

April update

Ok ok that was really an april fools joke by google but couldn't you imagine the fun if it was real? :)

Anyways, sorry for the lack of updates not a lot has been happening lately but here are some cute shots of us non the less.

Google develop an animal translation tool!

We have just heard some amazing news, google have developed an application that translates animal speak into human english!

Most importantly it works for hamster to english. (please see annotated image) So you can understand exactly the type of food we like to nibble on. (sunflower seeds if anybody is asking :) )

Now where's my ipaw I need to download the human to hamster translation app as we never really understand what you lot say, just a load of noise which echos round the cage!

I often wake up a little sooner than Pong as I like to hit the gym wheel nice and early to burn off those extra calories from the previous nights nut gorging.



Look how cute Pong is fluffing up his cheeks when he sleeps. Should I give him a sneeky nudge?

Pingpong the magisters of cuteness

A rarity for all you who know how restless robovski hamsters are particularly Ping who doesn't like being handles much. Yet here they are calmly sitting aloft two palms contemplating life. You can't see their legs but I assure you they are in a lotus yoga position. .... no really! :D

Farm day

Mummy and Daddy went to White post farm last week and brought back these shots of cute animals.

As you can see there were lots of farm animals there, cute little piglets and their mummy sow, sheep, baby goats eager to eat the grass feed that you can buy and feed them with. The lammas towered over the fences and were so greedy eating the feed before the sheep could get to it. And the last picture shows two terrapins basking underneath a heat lamp.

And don't forget to wash your paws after feeding the animals.

Now this is a rarity lil Ping standing patiently, it's a nice break from dashing around from one side of the box to another. Maybe even Ping is getting much more contemplative and wiser in his middle age?

PingPong the big weigh in!

With the new year and all it was time to see how the Pingpong diet regime was going. Afterall it's important to practice what you squeek!


So here are the weights, Ping weights 20g and Pong a mighty 35g, at least twice as much as his little brother!


The lil ones were placed in a bowl and then had the readings taken, the scales were zeroed at 50g so we subtracted 50g from the total number to calculate the weight.
